Metal Bathroom Accessories: The Bathroom tends to be a cool room -made colder by the unyielding enamel, chrome, glass, and ceramic surfaces. Unless you are starting from scratch, you will want to work your decorative scheme around the color of the existing bathtub, sink, tiles, and other fixtures. Warm-tonec off-white walls, brightly colored accessories, and lots of green plants are a straightforward choice for softening the Bathroom environment. Steel is a variety of iron with a hardness that is halfway between cast and wrought iron, and it has some of the physical characteristics of both. Steel is lighter in weight and has a finer grain than iron; it is subject to a high polish; it may be tempered and is, therefore, elastic, and when slightly bent, springs back to its original shape. Steel is decidedly malleable at a high temperature and hardens greatly by sudden cooling. Steel is used principally as a structural material, but owing to the fact that it may now easily be worked by electrical processes, it is used for many of the same decorative purposes as wrought iron. The alloying of chromium with iron or steel will prevent rust, and the polished alloy will retain its luster. Much iron hardware and furniture, many metal Bathroom accessories, Table objects, and other useful and decorative pieces, are now made of an alloy of iron or steel and chromium, or are covered with a coating of the latter because of its nontarnishing quality. Steel that is alloyed with 10 per cent to 20 per cent chromium is called stainless steel, and is used for cutlery.
Soft pink is relaxing, warm and welcoming -just right for a hallway. Here, it's teamed with a silver radiator and shiny metal accessories, taking any of its cutesyness away and giving it a contemporary flavour. Stripped wooden floorboards help anchor the scheme with their natural colour, stopping it feeling too futuristic.
