Movements Of Materials:

Movements Of Materials The type of puppet most frequently seen is that worked from above by strings attached to a controller, a bar or complex of bars which, when tilted, imparts general movements to the puppet; single strings are pulled only for special movements. This type of puppet is called a string puppet, or marionette. It is often a realistic fig¬ure having joints enough to perform the broad movements of its living counterpart. It is made of carved wood, cast plastics, stuffed cloth, and a variety of materials to suit the individual taste of the puppeteer. Almost always it is made by the showman himself, or by a puppet maker under his direction, for stock puppets other than toys are not usually purchasable.

Because cell surfaces control the movements of materials into and out of cells, and because these raw materials are important to the pro¬tein synthesis that is being directed by the DNA and RNA, the role of the cell surface in differentiation was getting more attention. Re¬cent experiments demonstrated the possibility of regulating differentiation in Hydra by expos¬ing them to different concentrations of sodium and calcium. Ions of these two elements are important in regulating cell metabolism, and their entrance and exit are clearly related to the state of the cell membrane.

See Also Prosthetic Materials For:

Future developments in pacemakers are being directed toward better coupling of power to the heart muscle, better energy sources that will work for an indefinite period of time, and better prosthetic materials for implantation. Artificial joints have been in use for many years, primarily as hip prostheses. These devices have been a challenge to metallurgical engineers, who have had to produce strong, non-brittle, ductile, noncorrosive, nonfatigable materials that do not irritate tissue. The material used in a hip-joint prosthesis, for example, must be able to withstand high stresses caused by forces ranging up to three to four times body weight.

Their proponents recognize the liabilities and even some dangers in their use. Artificial heart valves, for example, permit replace¬ment of valves diseased by arteriosclerosis and rheumatic fever, but formation of blood clots on prosthetic surfaces has been a problem and infection around the valve is nearly always fatal. Currently useful artificial heart valves are numerous, but it is surprising that few act physiologically or appear anatomi¬cally the same as natural valves.

On The Other Hand See The Materials Out:

a General All materials subject to test and inspection, intended for use in boilers and machinery of vessels classed or proposed for classification, are to be tested and inspected by the materials out Surveyor in accordance with the materials out following requirements or the materials outir equivalent. Materials having characteristics differing from those prescribed here¬in require special approval for each application of such materials and the materials out physical tests may be modified to suit conditions as approved in connection with the materials out design.

If the materials out nutrient medium is rich in the materials out needed raw materials, the materials out raw materials can be pumped quickly into the materials out cell, and cell divi¬sion can start promptly. If the materials out nutrient medium is poor, the materials out cells take a much longer time to store up the materials out threshold concentrations of the materials out necessary raw materials.
