Paint Tray: Used with a paint tray, the roller offers an easy way of applying paint to large, flat areas without leaving defined brush strokes. It is best for applying water-based paints, which you can easily clean off the roller. When using solid latex paint, lift the roller direct from the container. Roller types include:
• Before you use a new brush, or one that has been stored for any length of time, manipulate the bristles by rubbing them briskly in the palm of your hand to loosen and remove any dust and broken bristles.
• If you plan to use a number of different colors of paint, line your paint bucket or roller tray with layers of foil, pressing it well down so that it takes the shape of the container.See Also Mixing Paint Apply:• Latex base coat
• Latex for ragging on
• Cotton, lint-free rag or sheeting

Apply the base colour to the Wall and allow to dry thoroughly. Scrunch up the rag into a ball, and dip into the bowl of contrasting shade of paint. Remove excess paint. Dab painty rag straight onto the Wall and keep dipping the same side of the rag into the paint and dabbing at the same angle with even pressure to achieve uniform pattern. For a more random effect frequently rearrange the painty rag, dabbing with even pressure.
The way you apply paint is largely a matter of personal choice. You can use brushes in conjunction with a paint-roller - a tool developed for the amateur user of latex paint. The paint pad has its advantages, too.
On The Other Hand See Nonmetallic Paint Over:Before applying antifouling on the bottom of a steel hull, you need to apply two coats of barrier nonmetallic paint over the primer beneath the final antifouling. Galvanic corrosion could result if cop¬per-bearing paint came in contact with the steel. Some paint pro¬ducers provide a system of compatible paints for steel hull use.
There are also a few vital special items: triangular shave hooks and Flexible scrapers for removing old paint; masking tape for protecting surfaces not to be painted; paint shield of metal or plastic to restrict paint to the area being painted; tack or tacky rag to pick up dust; clean, lint-free rags; paint stirrer (there is one usable with a power drill); paint buckets.
Use a bucket so the bulk of your paint stays free from contamination. It also makes carrying paint - especially up ladders - much easier, since not all paint cans have handles.
