Patios Also Tend:

Patios Also Tend Paving can be used for both paths and patios also tend; the method used is much the same. FIRST MAKE the foundations as described earlier. Paving blocks can be laid on a sand bed without mortar where there is likely to be minimal pedestrian use. The bed should be about 2in thick: you will need to buy 1.7 cu ft of sand for every 215 sq ft of path. Where patios also tend and paths will receive a lot of heavy traffic, lay the blocks on mortar dabs.

patios also tend and large areas of paving which will receive heavy traffic should always be set on a compacted rubble and sand foundation. Lay a 4in layer of rubble topped with a 2in layer of sand. It is essential that you set out the base correctly to ensure the surface has a firm, flat foundation that will not collapse. Use stringlines and pegs to mark the perimeter of the patio. Most patios also tend adjoin the house and it is important that they are constructed so that the level is not higher than the damp-proof course (DPC) of the house walls.

See Also Beds And Patios:

The grass has had no lime, fertilizer, weed control measures or treatment for pests or diseases. Neither has it been watered, but because it is lo¬cated in a low-lying area this is not serious. Except hi the severest droughts the soil is reasonably moist beneath. The interesting thing is that after a quarter of a century the outlines of the flower beds and patios are clearly discernible. With¬in the beds and patios the grasses are practically all. Kentucky Blue and other desirable kinds, except for odd places where sod has been kicked up by ball players or others or has been disturbed by a badly handled mow¬ing machine, or in other ways, and crab grass has invaded. This survival of desir¬able grasses would not be so surprising were it not for the fact that between the beds and patios (and the between the beds and patios area is far more extensive than that of the beds and patios) there is practically nothing but crab grass; it is almost a pure stand.seriously injured. The reason the turf in the beds and patios is thick enough to repel crab grass through all these years is simple. The soil there was origi¬nally spaded and generously nourished.

At the shop - which, as the name implies, caters to tots and dogs - Brand has designed cushion-style dog beds and patios that come in three sizes with more than 15 different pattern options with coordinating piping. Prices range from $89 to $159. "As (upscale, stylish) dog beds and patios go," Moritz notes, "ours are actually pretty cheap."

On The Other Hand See Courtyards And Patios Where:

Da Vinci College Da Vinci College in Dordrechtdesigned by Mecanoo architecten is part of the Dordrecht Learning Park, which includes dwellings, offices, a modern sports complex and various shopping and restaurant facilities, in addition to schools. The laying of the foundation stone marks the official go-ahead for the construction of the Dordrecht Learning Park, of which the Da Vinci College is a part. The new Da Vinci College will be completed in May 2007. The new Da Vinci College consists of ten buildings, each with its own identity. The small-scale layout ensures that a massive impression is avoided. There will be an inner street, various courtyards and patios where pupils can sit and study in comfort. Two of the buildings will have a glass-covered atrium. The entrance building, housing a conference centre and other facilities, has an undulating facade of coloured glass. This striking building represents the icon of the Da Vinci College.

Courtyards need careful planning to avoid their becoming overwhelmed by too many clever ideas. Wherever possible, features such as planters, shrubs, and screens that will prevent the entire courtyard being seen from any one position should be incorporated to disguise the yard's small size. The siting of pots of plants can also add to the illusion of space.
