Touch The Container Walls: The gas then becomes a plasma, a hot cloud of electrically charged particles that is subject to enormous magnetic forces, vagrant and unstable. No substance known today can contain such a hot gas, for when the hot gas ions touch the container walls they instantly give up much of their heat, cooling the plasma and quenching the fusion reaction.
Habits are irregular; in wild, cockateels walk through grass heavy with dew. Use large container such as large flower pot saucer; fill container with water and place in cage at same time each day in early morning. Remove container after about an hour, whether or not birds have bathed.See Also Fill Container Two-thirds:Use 4' X 4' X 2' box made of half-inch lumber, or use an old oak barrel or large wooden keg. Thoroughly mix equal parts of light loam, partly rotted leaves, well-rotted leaf mold, and well-rotted cow manure. Fill container two-thirds full of this mixture. Add worms.
Since prairie dog cannot be confined in ordinary cage for more than a few hours, use or build a heavy packing box 5' X 3' X 3' with a screened, hinged top (see Part IV). Fill box two-thirds full of damp,
firmly packed soil. A I'-wide glass panel may be placed across front. Place pen where it will receive maximum sunlight each day. When prairie dog is two-thirds grown, it will need more space; at this point, it should be liberated.
On The Other Hand See Small Container In:• Beds and borders against walk are particularly prone to drying out and need zr watering.
• Plants in tubs, pots, and particularly hanging baskets will need regular applications of water through the summer because they can dry out very quickly. When filling the small container in with compost, leave a gap between the surface of the soil and the rim of the small container in to allow a sufficient amount of water to be applied. Water when the top lin of the small container in compost dries out; aim to keep it always damp but not sodden.
