Using Black Granite: He did this work in the Dalmatian town ;nt tGranite from Hercegovina, and the mere problem of itpo%ansporting this massive masonry clear to Belgrade, near the eastern irkis^rontier of the country, must have been a severe one. The approach to the romejulltop is by a path lined with great blocks of the same black granite, each isitorfyeighing from 9 to 15 tons. The monument itself, reached by 101 steps, uturejs a black temple guarded by 8 "caryatides," each of them a 15-ton Amazon :alle Because of buoyancy, melts should rise rapidly in the crust through narrow, irregular paths. Therefore, when batholiths are emplaced, the contrast in viscosity and density between the Granite and surrounding rock must be considerably less than that between Granite melt and solid rock. Perhaps in a geosyncline Granite begins to move up as a mush of solid crystals lubricated by only a slight amount of melt. If this is the case, then it is hard to see how the Granite was first of all concentrated by partial melting of sedimentary rocks. Clearly there are many puzzles left to solve before a real understanding of the Granite problem is achieved.See Also Irregular Black Markings:Small, quite round (hemispherical), red with irregular black markings on elytra; in females red predominates; males show more black
Tiny, oblong, bright red; deposited singly or in small clumps; usually placed on host if it is cottony-cushion scale
Small, pinkish, with black markings, and sometimes bluish bloom
Larva attaches self to host plant; pupates within larval skin
Pupa: Parts of adult not visible; when touched wiggles vigorously
a Manufacturer's Markings The bars and rivets, when loaded for shipment, are to be properly separated in bundles or containers marked with the name or brand of the manufacturer, the letter indicating the grade of steel and heat number for identification.
b Bureau Markings The Bureau markings, indicating satisfactory compliance with the Rule requirements, and as furnished by the Surveyor are to be marked on the material or on each bundle or container near the marking specified in 44.17.2a.
On The Other Hand See Called Black Brant:Their two-stage, solid-fuel 'lainma-Centauro is about 8 feet long, weighs 70 pounds at launch, and carries 11 pounds of scien-tilir equipment to an altitude of 20 miles.
Canada. Canadian scientists have developed a HTH-S of solid-fuel research rockets called Black Brant. Black Brant IIA, III, and V are single-sta-je rockets with boosters. Black Brant IV is a two-stage rocket.
The series varies in length in.m 19 feet (Black Brant III) to 36 feet (Black-Brant IV) and carries payloads of from 75 to 300 pounds to altitudes of 150 to 600 miles.
Egypt. Egypt has developed several tactical mU-ik's, named Al Kahir (Conqueror), Al Zafir (Victory), and Al Ared (Pioneer). The last mentioned is a two-stage rocket with a range of possibly 600 miles. With an extra stage, Al Ared was believed capable of launching an artificial satellite.
